Andy
Trombley was an extraordinary carver from the Mt. Clemens area.
The
son-in-law of Hans Janner Sr, Trombley
was a reknowned woodcarver and an even better painter, often using
a mesh hairnet in painting his decoys to give the appearance of scales.
He collaborated with other master carvers, as shown in the example above,
which was carved by his father-in-law and painted by Trombley.
Raised in a large family that fished and hunted locally,
Mr. Trombley resided in Harrison Township with his wife and daughter.
At the time of his death in 1975, he was the last surviving member of
the great "Master" Fish Decoy carvers.
